Educational activities
A unique journey, aimed at visitors of all ages.
In the secular spaces of the new Musja museum in Via dei Chiavari, in the heart of the city, comes to life The Dark Side / Who’s afraid of the dark?, the new project by Danilo Eccher dedicated to the “dark side” that is in each of us, to the real or presumed stumbles of life that impose a pause, a reflection, that make the heart beat but, at the same time, light new thoughts, new perspectives. A unique journey, aimed at visitors of all ages, involving some of the most important international artists: from masters widely recognized throughout the world, such as Gregor Schneider, Robert Longo, Hermann Nitsch, Tony Oursler, Christian Boltanski, to the new protagonists of the contemporary art scene as Monster Chetwind, Sheela Gowda, Shiota Chiharu. The Italian component is nourished and prestigious with works and installations by Gino De Dominicis, Gianni Dessì, Flavio Favelli and Monica Bonvicini.
In the spaces of the Musja it will be possible to live an immersive experience on the unspoken part of the thought, on the secrets of our soul but also on the curiosity of this challenge, on the courage to cross the darkness, on the need to overcome any fear.
The didactic activities organized by WorkInProject, through an interactive approach, will be aimed at the primary and secondary school public with guided tours and didactic tools designed ad hoc for a learning path aimed at understanding the languages of contemporary creativity.
Sunday is dedicated to experiential educational activities, suitable for families, to stimulate the development of a creative approach to the theme of the exhibition.

Storie di ombre
Type of activity: visits with workshops for families.
Target: children (4-8 years old accompanied by an adult).
Number of participants: 10 children .
Duration: 75 minutes (45 minutes guided tour – 30 laboratory). Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Teaching materials: cardboard silhouettes with references to the works on display, torches, curtains or panels to obscure the sunlight. (Part of the activity will take place in the dark).
Interactive visit
The family activity will be divided into two parts: an exploration visit to the exhibition and a workshop part (dedicated to the moment of doing) inspired by the myth of Plato’s cave.
After exploring the exhibition with an interactive approach, participants will be taken to the workshop to reflect together on the concepts that emerged during the guided tour.
Are you afraid of the dark? What does darkness make you think about? How did the artists deal with this theme? Which languages and meanings emerged from observing the works on display? How are light and shadow related?
Didactic workshop
The family workshop will deal with the theme of darkness, working on the concept of shadow and light in a theatrical way through the use of one’s own body and the creation of silhouettes inspired by the works on display. (The myth of Plato’s cave will be briefly told before the beginning of the activity).
We will move on from the observation of the shadow of objects to the invention of our own characters, made possible both through the use of our own bodies and through specially constructed silhouettes with references to works in exhibitions (e.g. the work of Boltanski, Monster Chetwynd…), transforming the space of the laboratory into a real shadow theatre.
The shadow will thus become a real expressive language for the participants, giving rise to different forms of narration.
Costs
Child 4-8 years 10,00 euro
Adult 12,00 euro
